National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (NDEE) Overview
The National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (NDEE) is a two-year full-time programme offered at Uganda Technical Colleges — Bushenyi, Elgon, Kichwamba, Kyema, and Lira. It is a competence-based, practical curriculum aligned with the BTVET “Skilling Uganda” strategy, designed to produce skilled electrical technicians capable of working in power generation, transmission, and renewable energy sectors.
Programme Duration and Structure
- Duration: 2 years (4 semesters) with two 10-week industrial training sessions.
- Each semester: 17 weeks (15 for instruction, 2 for examinations).
- Credit Load: 15–32 units per semester.
- Learners undertake real-life projects each semester to bridge theory with practical application.
Programme Objectives
The programme aims to:
- Equip learners with knowledge and skills in the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
- Develop competencies in renewable energy technologies, power generation, and control systems.
